2008 Freedom and Democracy Art Expressions Program
“Founding of a Nation: Causes and Effects of the American Revolution” |
Entry guidelines are as follows:
- Completed artwork must measure 8˝ x 11 or smaller.
- One (or more) of the following media must be used: pen & ink, pencil, color pencil, crayon, marker, watercolor.
- Entries must be the original work of the student and must convey the theme “Founding of a Nation: Causes and Effects of the American Revolution.” Please choose one cause and/or one effect to interpret.
- The following information must accompany the artwork: first and last name, written explanation of your artwork and how it interpret the theme (50 words or less), school, teacher’s name, parents’ names, and phone number.
- Entries must be mailed to: “Old Salem Sertoma Club, P.O. Box 17042, Winston-Salem, NC 27116-7042” and postmarked by February 19, 2008. Entries will not be returned.
Entries will be judged on 1) relevance to the theme (40%); creativity (40%); and essay (20%).
Honors:
- Top 3 Winners and their parents and teachers will be recognized at the Old Salem Sertoma Club’s dinner at the Piedmont Club at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Prizes are Target Gift Cards: 1st Place, $25; 2nd Place, $15; and 3rd Place, $10.
- All teachers of participating classrooms will be entered into a random drawing for a $50 gift card.
